
Software is reinstalled and updated to the newest version at the time of going through refurbishment. Any other hardware defects are also repaired/replaced. If you are looking at the M1 Air it will be from late 2020 at the oldest because that's when it was released.Īll refurbished machines get a new outside case (this will include display assembly, battery, and keyboard since those components are all attached to the case and have to be replaced as one). Right now the oldest machines you can get refurbished were released in 2017.



There are other various reasons but those are the main ones. Some failed QC, some were returned, some were traded in, and some were machines that were replaced under AppleCare instead of being repaired for the original customer.
